Therese was born and raised in Northern California to a family of painters, stained glass artists, musicians, woodworkers and book lovers. She spent her early years roaming her backyard woods, wandering Humboldt beaches and hiking coastal mountains; all the while drawing and cataloging her adventures. Today, she continues to do the same. Her vibrant and energetic work brings to mind the organic beauty of her experiences and interactions with the natural world. The idea that everything is a product of an experience frames each work. Whether the art is viewed as a floral, landscape or abstract, each piece conveys a story of movement and ideas about color, light, form and texture.
Therese studied natural sciences at the University of California at Davis and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Studies. After working as an environmental lobbyist, she realized that she wanted to express her passion and sentiment about the natural environment through her art. She finished her Masters of Fine Arts degree in painting from Humboldt State University and moved to Yosemite National Park where she began her career as an artist and teacher. She became passionate about teaching and went on to pursue a career in education, which quickly launched her path into school administration, where she successfully held positions of school director in both public and private schools for over 15 years in Northern California. Most recently she held the position of museum education director at di Rosa Art in Napa, California. Currently she is enjoying her life and position as a middle school art teacher. She believes that children create and speak from their heart and that all are gifted at the truth. "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." Pablo Picasso
Prior to her career in school and museum administration, Therese had several solo exhibitions in the San Francisco Bay Area and sold work to numerous private collectors and interior designers. She sold work to both Gump's and Nordstrom's Department Stores in California. Her current position has allowed her to again, become a working artist. She is thrilled to be showing and sharing, but most of all, making.
