Melodies From the Sea, 2016
oil, chalk, ink, acrylic on paper and canvas
9 x 11" to 30 x 24"
Melodies From the Sea investigates movement and line and how the eye moves around, stops and starts with a delicate balance. Color, line and texture act as a chorus of thoughts, memories and ideas.
Inspired by the ocean, this series alternates between painting and drawing, canvas and paper, saturated and sparse. Mark making when painting is forgiving and temporary, while drawing is permanent and calibrated. There is strength in decisiveness; learning through commitment, and at its core, deeply examining the relationship between our universal condition, in which everything is connected.
